About the Camp
position is a very important part of the Illinois Springfield Soccer
Academy. The Academy offers a specialized camp that focuses on the
goalkeeper position. We are fortunate that our Academy Director, Jesse
Miech, is an experienced goalkeeper trainer. He has the experience of
training some of the nations top goalkeepers. He has been the goalkeeper
coach for Clemson, Missouri State, Virginia Tech, and Saint Louis. In
the past five years three of his goalkeepers have moved to the next
level to play professionally for teams such as Chivas USA (MLS), Columbus Crew (MLS) and Sogndal (Norwegian Premier League).
The structure of the goalkeeper camp will be a balance of specific
goalkeeper training and challenging games. The goalkeepers will start
each session with a specific topic. Focus will be put on many different
areas of the game such as crosses, shot stopping, shot handling,
breakaways, angle play, set pieces, and distribution. As each session
builds, goalkeepers will be put into realistic game situations leading
up to small sided challenges that brings out their competitive edge.
The Goalkeeper Camp will
start on Saturday, June 2nd and will conclude on Sunday, June 3rd. There will be a certified trainer on the premises in case
of an emergency. This camp is open to all boys that will be entering 9th through 12th grade for the Fall of 2012. Each camper is
expected to bring their own sack lunch, water bottle and soccer ball.
Each camper will receive a free Illinois Springfield Soccer Academy
